Chinese Investors turning to Private Equity

The EB-5 program has created uncertainties for EB-5 investors as Congress continues debating new legislation in both the House and Senate. Investors are waiting nearly two years for EB-5 projects to be approved and the backlog for I-526 petitions keep increasing. The minimum costs for EB-5 investment looks to be increasing to $800,000 or over $1,000,000. Higher investment costs and slow processing times has pushed the next wave of Chinese investors to look into private equity industry. Chinese direct investment is beginning to heat up as they turn to smaller projects under $5 million such as restaurants, schools, apartments and assisted living facilities.
